Artist info: German painter and graphic artist (1923 Berlin - 1981 Darmstadt), initially graduated from high school in Cologne, then military service and prisoner of war in WW2, from 1945 studied at the Berlin Academy of Fine Arts. From 1945 he studied at the Berlin Academy under Karl Schmidt-Rottluff, Cuno Fischer and Max Kaus, where he also maintained contact with Carl Hofer, co-founder of the Berlin artists' group "Der Igel", 1953-56 study visit to Altea in Spain with a scholarship from the Berlin Senate, here acquaintance with Eberhard Schlotter, active in Darmstadt from 1956, took over a municipal studio here in 1960, member of the West German Artists' Association and the Darmstadt Secession, honoured with the Gario Prize of the City of Berlin in 1953 and the Art Prize of the City of Darmstadt in 1958, source: Vollmer, Saur "Bio-Bibliographisches Künstlerlexikon" and Wikipedia.
