MADELEINE MASSONNEAU (New York, 1901- Boissise-la-Bertrand, France, 1989). "Fish". Oil on paper. Signed in the lower right corner. Measurements: 15 x 21 cm; 32 x 37 cm (frame). A student of Louis-François Biloul, Paul Baudoüin and Ferdinand Humbert, Madeleine Massonneau was definitively admitted to the painting section of the Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1923. She was awarded the Prix de Rome in 1928. She exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1925 to 1932 and then at the Salon des Indépendants until the 1980s. She is the author of several works acquired by the State and of numerous frescoes realized in Saint-Nazaire, Pornichet, Fontainebleau, Saint-Gratien and Paris.
