Stella Mertens was born in Brussels (Belgium) in 1896. However, Paris is her home since 1916. There she lived with her husband, also an artist, who was her mentor and harshest critic. In the last thirty years, her paintings have been exhibited in France, the United States and Denmark. Her studio was located on the boulevard Pereire in Paris and her home in Antibes.
