JUAN ESPLANDIÚ (Madrid, 1901-1978). "The nanny". Watercolor drawing on paper. Signed in the lower right corner. It has some faults. Measurements: 15,5 x 12,5 cm; 34 x 30 cm (frame). Juan Esplandiú was a painter trained at the School of Fine Arts of San Fernando in Madrid. Thanks to a scholarship, he went to Paris in 1925, where he was able to further his studies and met and befriended Salvador Dalí, Pancho Cossío and the members of the "School of Paris". In addition to his artistic career, he collaborated in various magazines (Buen Humor, Blanco y Negro, etc.), illustrated several books, and worked as a set designer for several films. His work has been exhibited in Madrid, Barcelona, etc., and is preserved in various private collections and institutions such as the Municipal Museum of Madrid, the Biosca Gallery collection, the Spanish Museum of Contemporary Art (now the Reina Sofia National Museum) in Madrid, etc.
