ALFONSO RODRÍGUEZ CASTELAO (Rianxo, A Coruña, 1886 - Buenos Aires, 1950). "Non soñan máis que cando durmen". Mixed media on board. Without signature. Measurements: 15 x 16 cm; 33 x 34 cm (frame). Painter, engraver and draftsman, Alfonso Castelao collaborated as a caricaturist with various publications, and made known his pictorial work through the National Exhibitions of Fine Arts, being awarded the third medal in 1915. He also held individual exhibitions. In his work he depicts a dramatic and rural Galicia, through landscapes and portraits charged with a deep psychological, social and even political sense. He is currently represented in the museum that bears his name in Ferrol and in the museum of Pontevedra, among other public and private collections.
