Original and large silk Ghoum RUG, Iran. Silk velvet on silk foundation. Ruby-red field decorated in a style reminiscent of 16th- and 17th-century Persian miniatures from the Safavid dynasty (during the reign of Shah Abbas I the Great, the Persian Louis XIV). Decorated with polychrome stylized wild animals surrounding semis of bulbs and palmettes of multicolored stylized flowers and foliage. Seven borders, the main one in midnight blue, decorated in a manner reminiscent of the central field. Circa 1970, Shah period. Size: 280 x 185 cm. (Good general condition)
