Cane. Brown bamboo shaft. Ivory knob with moon sticking out its tongue, comets and stars. Metal ferrule decorated with fluting, centered on a blank cartouche. Metal ferrule. Total length: 92 cm. Pommel: 8.5 x 8.5 x 3 cm. Gross weight : 200 g. B.E. Circa 1900-1920. Elephantidae supp. specimen accompanied by its CITES FR2400600218-K issued on 02/05/2024. Le comte, représentant et négociant en vin originaire de Colmar, devint grand maître et rentier, fondateur de l'ordre des chevaliers de Saint-Lazare et de Saint-Jean de Jérusalem.

Brouet (tâches, mouillures et insolations) Dim. sujet : 51,5 x 68 cm Dim. feuille : 62 x 78 cm (à vue) Note : Exposé en 1910 au Salon des Artistes Français, le Marchand du Nil fut sans doute un succès. Mentionné dans le compte-rendu du Salon d'Art et Décoration,[3] il figure aussi dans le portefeuille de gravures distribué aux membres de la Société Française des Amis des Arts sous la forme d'une eau-forte de Henri Lefort, graveur d'interprétation, dans le style "à l'ancienne", un artiste respecté. Mais ce qui nous intéresse ici, c'est que cette même oeuvre fut également reproduite en couleur. Sur les épreuves, en regard de la signature de Deutsch apparaît celle du graveur : Auguste Brouet. Signature un peu anecdotique, donc, mais qui semble confirmer que vers 1910, sa réputation de graveur de reproduction s'est fermement établie et qu'il devient l'interprète affiché de ses contemporains.
