He thanks the Société d'émulation de la ville de Poitiers for sending him an associate's diploma: "Nothing that can contribute to the benefit of the inhabitants of my Diocese can be foreign or indifferent to me, and this is what makes me place a high value on all work that can contribute to it. Those of the Society are surely among the number, and I shall be happy to be able to contribute with it to such an honorable goal"... Attached is a small L.A.S. as Bishop of Poitiers to M. Petel, May 13, 1806.
