First Italian edition of this work dedicated to the cities, monuments, and customs of the Bel Paese, an excellent tool for understanding the wider European perception of Italy in the first half of the nineteenth century. 5 parts in 6 volumes, 4to, (258 x 170mm). 315 steel-engraved plates (numbering varies from copy to copy; according to the indices vol. 1 lacks plate no. 1 and in the first part of the second volume no. 2 with an additional plate not included in the list as well as a plate added in the fifth volume). text in two columns (some spotting and text sometimes browned, the last plates of volume 5 with wormtrack at outer edges not touching plate).
