AA, Pieter van der (1659-1733). La Galerie agreable du monde...la zeelande. Leida: Pieter van der Aa, [1729]. Complete collection devoted to Zeeland, complete with all the plates and in good condition, from the collection 'Galerie Agréable du Monde'. Fewer than a dozen complete volumes of the plates from van der Aa's work have been sold in the last 20 years (RBH) and none depicting Zeeland, making the present copy virtually unique. 3 works in one volume, folio, (370 x 250mm). Title-pages printed in red and black to each part, index of plates at the beginning, 94 double-page or folding plates depicting topographical maps, maps, views, interior scenes, and building plans (complete, some plates glued together and folded, map 11 'Tholen' with small chips to the sides, central tear to Zeelande plate 1 without loss of text, some small marginal tears, lightly and uniformly browned, occasional stains but in order). Contemporary half-calf binding, spine gilt, title gilt to spine (some wear to spine but binding firm). Contact the department for a detailed condition report. (1)
