Volume containing two works richly illustrated by Sandrart, with over 140 engraved plates in total. The first work is in its original German, with views and plans of ancient and modern buildings in and around Rome, including Palazzo Farnese in Caprarola with its characteristic pentagonal plan, while the second is devoted to the sculpture collections of the nobility and the Church in Rome. 2 works in one volume, folio, (370 x 244mm). Double-page engraved title-page preceding typographical title-page, engraved vignette on page 16, 71 plates of which several are double-page (some light wear). [BOUND WITH:] Sculpturae veteris admiranda. Nuremberg; Frankfurt: Froberg; Endtern, 1680. Portrait engraved by Collin and dated 1679, engraved vignette to title-page, 70 engraved plates including some doubles, engraved and woodcut initials (pronounced browning to last leaves of text, light wear). Contemporary full calf binding with title on spine labels (some wear, corners restored). Provenance: 20th-century ex-libris 'E.W.' applied to endpapers. (1)
