ALBERTI, Leon Battista (1404-1472). L'Architettura [WITH:] La Pittura. Mondovì: Torrentino, 1565. Copy of the second edition of Cosimo Bartoli's (1503-1572) translation and the second edition of Ludovico Domenichi's translation (1515-1564) of 'La Pittura,' as well as the first collected edition of both works. Alberti wrote ''De Re Aedificatoria'' in 1452, with the first Latin printing published in 1485, accompanied by a preface by Poliziano and dedicated to Lorenzo the Magnificent. This text is considered the first modern treatise on architecture. 4to, (323 x 222 mm). Printer's woodcut elephant device to title-page, portrait of the author within oval to verso, 1 double-page plate and the 2 single plates formerly mounted 'pop-up' to complete their respective illustrations, numerous woodcuts in the text, also full-page (restorations to the title page, small wormhole to upper margin of the first 5 leaves, tear to lower margin of f. m1 without loss of engraving, some sporadic spotting). Early 20th century full vellum binding, blue edges . (1)
