CALLOT, Jacques (1592-1635). Martiryum appostolorum. Paris, [1630]. Complete series, consisting of ten plates in the first state, two in the second state apres la lettre with Israel's name as publisher, two in the third apres la lettre et le chiffre with Israel's name and numbering, one in a later copy. Scarce series. also known as 'Les Petits Apôtres' of which there are no records at auction of plates belonging to the first series as presented here. Engravings, (85 x 55mm c.a). Series of 15 plates plus title page, applied to modern cardboard by thin adhesive strips on one verso only. (1)

Jacques Callot Various hunchbacked figures by Iacopo Callot Lot of title page and one engraving from the series, etching, 62 x 90 mm (title page); 64 x 82 mm (hunchback). Beautiful impressions on thin laid paper. Condition: frontispiece with small margins of approximately 1 mm, hump trimmed at the edge of the plate. In excellent condition, with passe-partout.

Jacques Callot (1592-1635). Varie figure di Jacopo Callot. Complete series, 16 plates plus one rejected by Lieurre, approx.9/9cm, last state edition with engraved figure lower right. Rare complete suite in fine condition with small margins. Etched suite of 16 pieces, including a title depicting a print dealer's stall in the open air. Two are peasant scenes with landscapes. In the thirteen others, as in part of the Caprices, the same figure (peasant, gentleman, Turkish soldier, Hungarian) is represented twice in line and shaded, to serve as models for those wishing to learn to draw with a pen (M. 730-746; L.201-213 and 403-406).

Following: La Fauconnerie de Jean de Franchieres [...] Paris, Claude Cramoisy, 1628. [4]-127-[5] ff. Blond calf, richly decorated ribbed spine with grotesque decorated caissons, blond marble title-pieces, place and date in tail, double framing of triple gilt fillet with fleurons in spandrels, gilt arms in center of boards, gilt tr., inner lace, in edged slipcase (Bauzonnet). Last complete edition of Franchieres' Fauconnerie, illustrated with numerous woodcuts, most of them full-page. (Thiébaud, 305-306.) A superb copy in a signed binding by Bauzonnet. Ex-libris Édouard de Breuilly with his arms stamped on the boards.
