First edition of this important treatise quoted by Manzoni himself in chapter XXXII of Promessi sposi on the subject of anointers: 'Two illustrious and meritorious writers have affirmed that Cardinal Federigo doubted the fact of unctions (Muratori, Del governo della peste, Modena, 1714, p. 117). The work was written immediately after the plague epidemic of 1713 and includes prayers to invoke divine help against the pestilence. 8vo (160 x 105 mm). Variant d with the addition of the last leaf containing musical notation (some wear). Contemporary vellum binding, title inked to spine, modern title-piece to upper board (light wear). (1)
