Although it disappeared at the end of the 19th century, we know about it from numerous paintings and descriptions, the most famous of which was by Goethe, who attended in 1787. His room, located in via del Corso, was at the heart of the carnival. In his description, Goethe provides interesting details, notably on the confetti-making process, which involved using a funnel to make small balls of colored plaster. Brown morocco bookplate on upper flyleaf, sales notes pasted on first white binder's leaf. Pale freckling on the white endpapers and very rare in the text, otherwise a very fine deluxe copy in the publisher's lemon morocco.
