Bullot, and illustrated with 811 engraved plates of religious costumes. Contains: Volume I, the orders of St. Anthony, St. Basil and the other founders of monastic life in the East, with the military orders that followed their rule. - Volume II, the congregations of Canons Regular and Canonsess Regular, with the military orders related to them. - Volumes III and IV, all the various congregations and military orders that have been subjected to the rule of St. Augustine. - Volumes V and VI, all the various congregations and military orders that have been subjected to the rule of S. Benedict. - Volume VII, the orders of St. Francis and others which have particular rules. - Volume VIII, all secular congregations of either sex and military orders and orders of chivalry which are not subject to any of the rules of religion. A good copy. Ex-libris of the Beauvais seminary. Corners and a few headpieces restored, slight haloing to some leaves.
