Marcel André BOURAINE (1886-1948). French sculptor who studied sculpture under J.A. Falguière. He exhibited at the Salon des Tuileries in 1922 and went on to establish himself as one of the most representative sculptors of Art Deco, "Le plongeur" bronze signed A. Bouraine on the base. This work was one of the sculptures presented by André Bouraine at the Art competition for the 1924 Paris Olympic Games. Plaque affixed to the base stating that this trophy was presented to Noël Delberghe, France's Olympic water polo champion against Belgium 3-0. Total height 47 cm. Rare and exceptional (restorations on the base).
