Description

Pierre de Coubertin. Bronze by Maurice Guillaume (1920-2015), who engraved the terrace with one of the Baron's characteristic sayings: "See far, speak frankly, act firmly". He entered the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts and became a pupil of Paul Niclausse, then of sculptor René Iché, who taught him almost everything about sculpture. After a long career, he went on to create his own sculptures on the theme of sport, some of which can be seen at the Musée National du Sport and the Olympic Museum in Lausanne. Bronze with brown patina and metal transparency from the foundry E. Godard. Artist's proof, 1/4 cast signed by the artist on the terrace and dated 1990. Height 50 cm.
