Large Turkish carpet. Oushak, first half of the twentieth century. Hand knotted wool. It has marks of use and wear. Measurements: 431 x 295 cm. A characteristic design of the region of U?ak, based on floral patterns that develop in dense and vibrant compositions, which are born from a central rosette, can be seen in this carpet of considerable dimensions. It consists of a maroon-red field with a medallion of stepped rosettes and a border formed by three bands. Complementary colors: ochre, brown, beige, black, different shades of green and blue. Oushak carpets, also known as Ushak carpets, are a type of hand-knotted Turkish carpet that originated in the city of U?ak in western Turkey. They are known for their intricate and colorful designs, often incorporating floral, geometric and animal motifs. Oushak rugs are usually made from wool or silk and are considered to be of high quality.
