FAVIER (Alphonse): PÉKING. History and description. Paris, Desclée de Brouwer, 1900. One volume. 22 by 29.5 cm. 416 pages, profusely illustrated with 524 engravings in the text. Vintage red half-chagrin with corners, 5 raised bands, gilt head, decorated boards. Rubbing on the nerves, two small stains on the 1st plate, epidermure at the bottom of the spine (not serious). Freckling mainly concentrated on the margins of the 14 leaves of photographic reproductions. A fine copy nonetheless. A classic, with a wealth of information, and very well illustrated, here in its new edition.

Djambya-type dagger. Copper and brass handle and scabbard profusely decorated with flowers, foliage and trophies of arms. Decorated curved blade signed in gold on the heel (pitting). E.M. 19th century.

Beautiful hunting pinfire harquebus. Strong rifled barrel, slightly blunderbussed at the muzzle, with sights and folding single-leaf frog. Thunder stamped "I.G DAX". Inner wheel lock signed on the tail "IOANN GEORG DAX MUNCH-EN" and decorated with a finely engraved gallant scene. Dog, spring, inner spring cover plate of lock nicely chased with foliage scrolls in succession. Finger rest decorated in succession. Red fruitwood frame with drawer lined with two stag bone plates engraved with a castle and rabbit on a landscaped background, enriched with foliage. Deer antler buttplate marked "1562". Stock and barrel decorated with a deer antler fillet and plaques en suite. Wooden ramrod with deer antler tip. B.E. Circa 1730. Iann Georg DAX in Munich. 1714-1743
