Spanish school of the 20th century. "Piranha". Wood and metal sculpture. Marble base with restoration and pickets. Measurements: 25 x 30 x 7 cm (figure); 7 x 6,5 x 6,5 cm (base). During the nineteenth and twentieth century the animal-themed sculpture will finally reach its own status within the context of romantic sculpture. Seeking to break away from the classical sculptural ideal, many artists saw in the animal theme a new way of expression, linked to the emotional and irrational nature, in a purely romantic sense.
