All likely were once part of a series of woodblock prints intended as a diptych or triptych. Each with seals in plate. Height: 14 1/2 in x width: 10 in.

Utagawa Kuniyoshi (Japanese, 1798-1861). Ukiyo-e woodblock print from the series "Biographies of the Loyal Retainers" depicting Jinzaburo, a servant retained by Shikamatsu Kanroku: one of the forty-seven ronin belonging to Chushingura legend, ca. 1847. Jinzaburo offers a bountiful basket of cakes, presumably to samurai following battle, while shadowed by a voracious cat in the background. Signed and stamped along the lower right; titled along the upper right. Sight; height: 14 in x width: 9 1/4 in. Framed; height: 17 in x width: 12 3/4 in x depth: 3/4 in.

Utagawa Kuniyoshi, from the series Actors as the Eight Dog Heroes (Mitate Haiyû Hakkenshi). Japanese, Edo Period. The woodblock print is nicely framed and silk-munted. Provemame: A private collection in New York City. Dimensions: 13 1/4 x 8 3/4 in., (33.5 x 22.2 cm.) The print is well-preserved and framed under glass. There is a small spot on the samurai warrior that may be a thinning. The matting is an off-white linen.
