'LEE-SPEED' BOLT-MAGAZINE SPORTING RIFLE, serial no. 40837, circa 1902, 24 1/2in. nitro reproved barrel (in 2024), with solid raised wave cut rib, ramped dove-tailed bead fore-sight, open rear sight, with two folding leaf sights marked for '100', '200' & '300' yards and with white metal inlaid sight lines, tangent sight missing, together with a complete replacement rear sight, name banner engraved 'ARMY & NAVY CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY LIMd LONDON.', the breech end with a banner engraved 'FOR CORDITE ONLY', bolt dust cover with light border engraving, magazine cut-off, B.S.A. and C. Proctor patent tang safety, patent No. 28834 of 7th December 1897, the tang marked 'B.S.A. PAT. 28834 / 97' in an oval, the butt socket with border and scroll engraving and signed 'B.S.A. CO.', the top right side of the socket numbered 6368, the same number marked to the rear of the bolt handle, detachable magazine with border and acanthus scroll detailing, ribbed trigger, pistolgrip stock with horn pistolgrip-cap and fore-end finial, sling eyes, 14in. pull including border engraved steel buttplate with trapdoor, weight 7lb. 7oz. S1 - Sold as a Section 1 Firearm under the 1968 Firearms Act.
