Attractive ormolu clock featuring an oriental woman seated on a cushion. White enameled dial signed by Denière Matelin, makers of bronze in Paris. Quadrangular base decorated with birds, sun. A bow and quiver rest on the central part. Blued steel hands. Sounding the hours and half-hours. Early 19th century. Height 35 cm - Length: 25 cm - Depth: 12 cm (Small enamel chips around the winders). The partnership between the two Parisian bronzemakers Jean-François Denière (1774-1866) and François Thomas Matelin (1759-1815) was one of the most important of the first quarter of the 19th century. The two bronzemakers, active since the end of the Ancien Régime, founded one of the capital's very first bronze workshops under the Empire. The partnership ended in 1815, when Matelin died.
