CHINA - QIANLONG period (1736 - 1795) Two porcelain bowls decorated in blue underglaze with peonies in foliage. On the reverse, the Qianlong mark in zhuanshu. (chips, cracks) Diam. 15.6 cm Provenance: Collection of Doctor Maurice Fournials. Appointed in 1923 to the French Occupation Corps in China, he later became the guard physician at the French Legation in Peking, then assistant physician to the President of the Chinese Republic.

The rectangular seal surmounted by a Buddhist lion and its cub, the sides of the seal flanked by two chilong, and impressed with calligraphy to the front. Inscriptions: To the front ‘Republic of China, 1913 (Minguo er nian)’. The base inscribed ‘Neifujian zhi’ Provenance: Austrian private collection. Condition: Very good condition with minor wear, few tiny nicks, and casting flaws. Weight: 127.2 g Dimensions: Height 6.1 cm
