Complete series consisting of 8 plates in the first state (of two), and 12 in the second state, apres la lettre with the name of the author and publisher Israel. This is a scarce miniature series dedicated to the mysteries of Christ's passion from the Annunciation to the Resurrection. Copper engraving, (48 x 35mm) and (30 x 30mm) engraved parts. Complete series of 20 engraved plates on 7 sheets applied to modern cardboard by thin adhesive strips on one verso only. (1)

CALLOT, Jacques (1592-1635). Misere de la guerre. Paris: Israel, 1636. Complete series, in the second state (of two), of one of Callot's last works, left unfinished and completed by his pupil Abrham Bosse, more commonly known as 'Les petites misères de la guerre'. Copper engraving, (60 x 125 mm approx.). Complete set of 6 plates plus engraved title page, trimmed edges and applied to modern thin cardboard by thin adhesive strips on one side only. (1)

A good copy of this first complete suite of 102 engraved plates, scarce, designed by one of the most important Italian neoclassical scenographers. Folio, (384 x 475 mm). Engraved vignette to title-page, 102 plates divided into three sections, 34 plates each (small hole to blank margin of title-page). Half vellum binding with gilt title-piece to spine. (1)
