Description

[George SAND] - Doctor Claude-François LALLEMAND (1790-1854, physician) / Autograph letter signed, 1 p in-8 plus address page, to Doctor Pierre RAYER (1793-1867, ordinary physician to Napoleon III): George Sand particularly recommends Monsieur Josse to him, "he is affected by albuminuria - at least everything leads me to believe so - and I found nothing better than to send him to you, I advised him to enter your service to be more easily and more completely subjected to your observation, I don't need to tell you how much I wish to be useful to Madame Sand's protégé, and I didn't think I could prove it to her better than by referring Mr. Josse to you" (Jean Josse, a shoemaker, was the husband of Ursule, née Godignon; the Godignons were servants in Nohant at the Dudevant household, and little Aurore had Ursule as a playmate; George Sand was always faithful to this childhood friend).
