This 1791 exhibition, called "Salon de la liberté," which was open to all living artists and ended the privilege that allowed only members of the Academy to exhibit, saw the triumph of Jacques-Louis David, who presented three paintings, including the famous "Brutus." The last page bears the royal red round seal, used from February 1790: the Constitution of 1791 requires it to be impressed in the laws of the state. In the crown it bears the inscription, "Louis XVI par la grâce de Dieu et par la loy constitutionnelle de l'État Roy des François." 4to. 248x196 mm. Pp. 4. In the last page a royal red seal. Good condition. Rare booklet, important source of art history.
