MOUCHOIRS de CHOLET (Maine et Loire) / Autograph letter signed by ROCHARD, weaver in Cholet, dated October 29, 1790, 2 p small in-4 plus address page, about supplying a Parisian merchant with handkerchiefs (Cholet specialty) - NB: The Rochard family was to have a tragic fate: several Rochard weavers enlisted in the Vendée Army were guillotined or shot, and a large part of this family from Sorinère-Chemillé near Cholet was massacred by General Turreau's "infernal columns" in January 1793 (considered martyrs and beatified in 1984).
