Marie Alexandrine DUMAS(1831-1878, writer and painter, daughter of Alexandre DUMAS-father and half-sister of Alexandre Dumas-son, married Pierre-Auguste Olinde Petel in 1856, divorced 6 years later due to her husband's unstable character) / Autograph letter signed, 1 p in-8, January 6, 1864, to his "dear Julie", allegorical dry-letterhead from the Couvent des Dames de l'Assomption in Auteuil, with the motto "Sursum Corda", "Haut les Cœurs" (nb: it was in this institution that she lived after separating from her husband, before going to live with her father), she continues to sign "Marie Olinde Petel", but adds her pen name "Alexandre Dumas" (n.b. her half-brother reproached her for this pseudonym, and she subsequently used "Alexandrine Dumas"): "I don't know what my dear Julie means by my brother's lecture; it's true that I never know what this great man is up to".
