Characteristic sheet in style and motif for the early oeuvre of van Dongen, who studied at the Academy in Rotterdam from 1892-1894. In 1897, van Dongen first spent a few months in Paris and finally settled permanently in the French art metropolis in 1899. Watercolor/handmade paper. Inscribed "van Dongen" (lower right) and dat.
