Carved figure of a saint 17th century, Carved wood, chalk-grounded, painted in colour and partly bronzed in silver, depicting the Czech national saint King Wenceslas (or Wenceslaus) of Bohemia as a sculpted half-length figure, St. Wenceslas was a prince from the Přemyslid dynasty, many legends describe him as an educated, courageous and pious ruler, who fought for a firm place for the Czechs in Christian Europe, in 935 he was murdered by his brother Boleslav, but after his death he is said to have performed many miracles and to have protected the Czechs from his heavenly throne for all eternity, attribute missing, loss of substance, lack of preservation, h 68 cm.
