Ohara Koson (Kanazawa 1877 - 1945 Tokyo), 'Frosch auf Lotusblatt im Regen', around 1920, color woodcut on yellowish Japan laid paper, stamped signature lower right, stamped on the reverse "22 - Made in Japan", 23.7 x 25.1 cm (paper size: 27.2 x 28.5 cm), several tears in the margin outside of the image, a small foxing spot in the margin upper right, mounted in a passepartout, total size: 45 x 45 cm. Limit 108,- >> actually Ohara Matao, considered the most outstanding Japanese woodcut artist for Kachō-e (depictions of flowers and small animals) in the 20th century, after 1923 almost all of his woodcuts were exported to the USA and bear the stamp "Made in Japan".
