Paris, Dubochet, 1836-1837. 2 vol. gd in-8, cherry half calf, smooth spine decorated with gilt romantic irons, gilt title and tomaison (period binding). Spines sunned, light spotting on first volume. First printing of "one of the most beautiful illustrated books of the 19th century" (Carteret). Two frontispieces on China paper and 800 woodcut vignettes after Tony Johannot in the text. Some foxing. Ex-libris Lucienne Corneux-Filloux (Carteret, III, 136; Vicaire II, 155).
