Max Wolf (Gissigheim 1824 - 1901 Heidelberg), attributed to, ,Tree study, oil on paper, mounted on cardboard, 21.5 x 16.5 cm, on the reverse label of Galerie Lebens-Art, Bad Wimpfen with the attribution to Max Wolf, in limed, corner-decorated gilded strip, overall size: 33 x 27 cm. Limit 135,- >> German landscape painter, pupil of Bernhard Fries, "There (in Heidelberg) he (Wolf) often lived in the summer at the Kohlhof together with Bernhard Fries, for both painters particularly loved this wooded area with its views of the Neckar mountains, and Wolf in particular understood how to capture atmospheric woodland scenes here" (from Karl Lohmeyer, Heidelberger Maler der Romantik, Heidelberg 1935, p. 394).
