Vitus Staudacher (1850 Gaimersheim - 1925 Baden-Baden) "On the Oos near the Kurhof Baden Baden". Original title Impressionist landscape from the artist's mature, late oeuvre, painted in a soft, pastose, loose style and in a light, pastel coloring, for which he chose an exciting vertical format. Staudacher studied at the Karlsruhe Academy from 1877-1882, settling in Baden-Baden in 1885, where he became a pioneer of open-air and light painting together with his painter friend Victor Puhonny. Inspired by the Barbizon School and later by Impressionism, he painted views of Baden-Baden as well as mainly regional landscapes and places from Baden and Württemberg. Staudacher belonged to the circle of the Gutach painters' colony. Oil on canvas; signed and dated on the lower left. 1923, titled verso. 60.5 cm x 45.5 cm. Frame. Oil on canvas.
