ANTOINE-LOUIS BARYE (France, 1795 - 1875). "Jaguar devouring a captured bird". Bronze. Ferdinand Barbedienne Fondeur. Signed by the artist and the publisher. Measurements: 16 x 43 x 17 cm. Key sculptor of the French romanticism, Barye initiated his formation next to his father, goldsmith, and later he extended it with the teachers François Joseph Bosio and Antoine-Jean Gros, in the National Superior School of Fine Arts of Paris, where he entered in 1818. Especially appreciated were his animalistic sculptures, largely initiators of the genre. He had his own foundry, collaborated with Viollet-le-Duc on a project commissioned by Napoleon III and was the teacher of Auguste Rodin. He presented his works at the Paris Salon, and created monuments such as the "Lion with Serpent" in the Tuileries Garden (1833), commissioned by the king. He is currently represented in the Louvre and Orsay Museums in Paris, the National Gallery in London, the Hermitage in St. Petersburg, the Albertina in Vienna, the Art Institute of Chicago and the Smithsonian in Washington D.C., among other museums around the world.

Measurements: 31 x 30 x 24 cm. Key sculptor of French Romanticism, Barye began his training with his father, goldsmith, and later expanded it with the masters François Joseph Bosio and Antoine-Jean Gros, at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he entered in 1818. Philippe GARNIER DE LA BAUDINIERE (1955) "Yokohama Polychrome relief with kinetic effect. Signed lower left, countersigned and titled on back. 80 x 80 cm Philippe Garnier de la Baudinière is a French artist born in 1955. Originally from Blois, he moved to Paris to pursue his first career as a decorator. His frequent visits to painters and museums, and his meeting with Bernard Lorjou, leader of the Val de Loire School from 1973 onwards, gradually formed the basis of his artistic culture. Free of all influences, constraints and theoretical ideas, Philippe Garnier de la Baudinière's work is situated in the movement of geometric abstraction. In 2018, the artist was chosen by the architectural firm Jean Michel Wilmotte to participate in the restoration project for the Hotel Lutétia in Paris. His monochromes are featured, along with multiples hung in numerous suites overlooking Boulevard Raspail. In 2018, the artist was chosen by the Bollinger holding company for their château in the Sancerrois region, and most recently by Atelier27 Paris for London's Hotel Claridge and Casablanca's Royal Mansour. An exhibition of his work took place in August 2023 at Place des Lices in Saint Tropez.
