The depictions belong to the subtly observed rural scenes characteristic of Kauffmann, in which he depicted horse-drawn carriages and carriages, often in snow or rain. Pen and watercolor with white heightening/paper. Each signed lower right; slightly foxed. Approx. 12.5 cm x 19.5 cm (drawing). Frame. Provenance: from the Michahelles Collection, Hamburg, which has grown over generations. A pair of ink (pen) drawings with watercolour and whitening on paper depicting carriages. Each signed.
