Description
ANCIENT PARCHMENTS & DOCUMENTS. - 3 15th-century parchments, rolled up, forming the first 3 leaves (uncut) of a long scroll, approx. 200 x 47 cm. The end is missing. Feudal vows to Jehan seigneur de La Cappelle. Stains and defects. - 2 papal bulls from popes INNOCENT XI (1682) and CLÉMENT XIII (1760), the latter with its lead seal. - A dozen medieval parchments (14th-15th centuries): absolution, exchange contract, homage, "gens des comptes du Roy" order, transaction, etc. One document with brown wax seal, mostly preserved. Some defects. - A few medieval leaves taken from codices (sometimes cut out), some with initials or faces in profile + a 15th-century bifeuillet used as a binding: "voyages et chevauchées faiz durant le temps de ce présent compte". - A document from the doge of Venice, Pascal Cicona, with his lead seal (1586). Attached is a set of miscellaneous documents: edict on the manufacture of gold and silver specie (incomplete), a copy of the Brunswick Manifesto (in poor condition), documents on the Revolution, etc.
