Romanesque sculpture of Virgin enthroned with Child, italian Romanesque early Medieval school, 13th century to 14th century Romanesque wood carving with polychrome from the 19th century. The Virgin, crowned, enthroned and with the Child is one of the most representative sculptural typologies of the Romanesque. Hieraticism and lack of expressiveness are key elements of Romanesque sculpture. However, the placement of the Child on the Virgin's left leg, and the contact established by the mother holding the Child with her left hand, indicate a slight tendency to show expression and affection between them. Measurements: 101 x 37 x 29 cm.

Bittner f. N. 37 / de Pian invt.". At the lower part inscribed: "Pyrus und Astiager". Date: c. 1818 Description: The artwork shows a perspective interior view of monumental architecture. Richly detailed columns support a geometric ceiling pattern, while the interior is decorated with sculptures, volutes and ornaments. A central incidence of light emphasises the depth of the room, the end point of which is formed by a sun motif. The engraving combines elements of the Renaissance and Mannerism and illustrates the richness of design of imaginary architecture.
