DAUM: A VERY RARE 'VIGNES ET ESCARGOTS' CAMEO GLASS BOWL CIRA 1903-04 Henri Bergé, Daum Frères, Nancy. the acid etched, vitrified cameo glass bowl mottled with coloured powder inclusions, decorated with vines, grapes and applied snails, of circular form, on a shallow pedestal foot, signed Daum / Nancy with the cross of Lorraine, 23cm wide x 11.5cm high Provenance: Private London collection. Auction Comparables: The present bowl is very rare, but the same pattern and applied snails appeared on a vase sold at Sotheby's, London, lot 11, 6 September 2023, £45,720. A lamp of this design was sold at Christie's, New York, 14 June 2023, lot 38, $23,940. Related Literature: The popular 'la Vigne' decor was used on various vases and lamps, see exh. cat.
