Papal coins Pius IX (1846-1878) Lira 1866 A. XX Striped contour - Nomisma 871; Gig. 292 AG (g 5.72) RRRR Ex Nomisma 31, 2006, lot 1010. We have found only two specimens of this coin. Besides this one, the one from the Vitalini collection, Nomisma auction 40, lot 1241, ex NAC 16, lot 848, ex Santamaria, Bonfili Collection, lot 1926. This specimen weighs g 5.72 while the one in the Vitalini Collection weighed g 6.70. At the bottom of lot 1241 in the Vitalini Collection we wrote, "this is probably a mint proof considering the greater than legal weight." The remarkable difference between these two known specimens only confirms this proposal of ours. - FDC

Olympic Games/ Summer, 1936/ Berlin/ Badge. Semi-official badge, taken from the one designed by Walter Raemisch, but reversed, with the rings passing under the Brandenburg Gate. Here, the rings are enamelled white, and the official words in gold letters: 1936, on top of the gate, and "XI Olympiad Berlin" underneath. Superb piece, much more feminine than the official one, with its brooch on the back featuring the manufacturer's signature: Beschler-Munchen. 3,3cmx3. GOOD CONDITION.
