Italian sculptor (active in the 19th/20th century) Bust of the "Venus Capua" White marble. Fully sculpted, finely executed depiction of Venus looking down to the left with a diadem in her hair, composed on a profiled column base. Bust after the ancient Roman marble sculpture in the National Museum in Naples, created during Hadrian's reign (117-138 AD), presumably based, like the Venus de Milo, on a lost bronze sculpture of Aphrodite by the Greek sculptor Lysippos. Because of its great beauty and harmony, the sculpture discovered in Capua in 1750 has been copied many times since the 18th century and busts of the "Venus Capua" have also been created. H. 54.5 cm. Italian sculptor active 19th/20th C.; Marble bust of the "Venus Capua".

Venus bronze, patinated; round foundry mark "GUSS SCHWAB Münster". Cast at the end of the 20th century; stone base. Fully sculpted depiction of Venus in a slightly bent pose on a round plinth, looking towards her left hand raised at chest height while holding a cloth with her right hand. Large, finely executed bronze sculpture after the famous, ancient Roman marble sculpture from the 1st/2nd century AD in the British Museum in London (inv. no. 1805,0703.16). This Roman copy of a Greek Hellenistic statue (4th century BC) was found by Gavin Hamilton in Ostia in 1775 and has been in the museum since 1805. Bronze h. 105.5 cm; stone base 9 cm x 49 cm x 49 cm. Patinated bronze. Foundry stamp "GUSS SCHWAB Münster". Late 20th C. cast. After the ancient Roman marble sculpture in the British Museum in London.
