In the 70s, Yves Ris first turned to photographic expression, seeking spontaneity and a transcendence of the real towards the imaginary. Very reserved, he never presented his work officially and even refused to collaborate with a publisher. Unsatisfied, he turned to painting. Figurative for a time, he quickly grasped the world of informality, unleashing his creative energy through gesture and the subtle random blending of matter and color. As a self-taught creator, free from all constraints and influences, he expresses himself spontaneously through a lively, personal and emotional pictorial style.
