A. DEVÉRIA (1800-1857) Successor, Interior scene. Mother and daughter's secret, Charcoal Achille Devéria (1800 Paris - 1857 ibid.) Follower: Interior scene with mother confiding a secret to her daughter, , Charcoal Technique: Charcoal and Pencil on , mounted on Paper Inscription: lower left signed: "ADevéria". Date: 19th century Description: Presumably a tracing after a preparatory drawing or a print by Devéria. Depicts a young mother with her playing children, her index finger raised to her lips in a gesture of calm and secrecy. She seems to be sharing a secret with her eldest daughter, who is standing in front of her, full of expectation. Keywords: Interior, Family, Mother, Daughter, Fashion, 19th century, Biedermeier, Leisure, France, Size: Transparent paper: 13,2 cm x 16,4 cm (5,2 x 6,5 in) Condition: Rather good condition. The upper left corner of the sheet has been folded over several times. Rust-coloured stains from mounting are visible along the edges. The centre has been clearly erased (by the artist?).
