RECUEIL de 26 pièces politiques de l'année 1614, in an in-8 volume, soft vellum, handwritten title on spine (Modern binding). Collection of 22 rare pieces published under the regency of Marie de Médicis at the time of the 1614 Estates General, famous for the clergy's insolent attitude towards the "Third Estate". Strictly speaking, these were the last Estates General, as those of 1789 were transformed into the National Assembly. These satirical letters, whose authors are disguised under pseudonyms (Maître Guillaume, Jacques Bonhomme, le crocheteur de la samaritaine, le citoyen françois, Alexandre le forgeron), are mostly addressed to the Prince de Condé and other princes. One of the most important (24 pages) gives the articles and agreements reached in Spain on Wednesday August 20, 1612, concerning the marriage of King Louis XIII to the Infanta Dame Anne, Princess of Spain (Anne of Austria).
