18th Century Louis XVI Standing Clock with brass dial in oak By Johannes Franciscus Gillis, Cortenaken 1761. Narrow standing clock in honey-colored oak case. Movement with running time of 8 days and a high quality 5 pillar movement with anchor escapement and striking on a bell. Brass dial with a silvered and engraved secondary dial in the center with silvered chapter ring, Roman time indication and silvered steel hands. In the top a makers cartouche, signed: "Johannes Franciscus Gillis, Cortenaken 1761." (Cortenaken = Kortenaken, Belgium). Small honey oak longcase clock is of 8-day duration with a high quality 5 pillar movement, anchor escapement and striking the hours on a bell via the rack and snail striking system. The break arch with bronze dial and a very well mated center, a silvered and engraved second's subsidiary dial with finely silvered steel hands, a silvered chapter ring and makers cartouche signed Johannes Franciscus Gillis, Cortenaken 1761 in the break arch.
