Pablo Picasso. Gully is first and foremost a humorous comic strip character created in the early 1980s by Didier Makyo and Alain Dodier. It's also the pseudonym chosen by a former graffiti artist who cultivates anonymity to free his studio practice. An adept hijacker, Gully mixes all currents, from hyperrealism and pop art to surrealism and cubism, to create a facetious, narrative pictorial work that traverses the history of art with the eyes of children. Juggling representations and interpretations, his stagings celebrate both his idols (Lichtenstein, Rockwell, Basquiat, Murakami, Warhol, Magritte, Picasso...) and the mischievous memories of youth.
