Don Fink (1923-2010) Abstract composition 1956 Oil on canvas signed and dated lower right 52 x 102 cm Condition report: Framed Born in Duluth, Minnesota (USA), and after studying at the Art Student League in New York, Don Fink spent several periods in Paris in the 1950s, exhibiting at the Craven Gallery. Influenced by Pollock, but also by the New School of Paris, he developed a calligraphic style composed of very fine black lines, sometimes scratched, taking precedence over or fading into almost monochrome backgrounds. Very little information remains, and a certain enigma surrounds the work of this painter with his singular, innovative style.
