Marie BERTHOULOUX, born 1988 Hear the wood grow, 2024 Hemp, walnut stain, cranberry threads. Unique piece signed and dated on the back. 65.5 x 66 cm --- Marie BERTHOULOUX, born 1988 Born in Brest, Marie BERTHOULOUX holds a BTS in Fashion Design and a Diplôme des Métiers d'Art in Textiles, specializing in gold embroidery, from Rochefort-sur-Mer. Open to experimentation and the sociological, philosophical and ethnographic roots of these skills, she founded the Ekceli studio in 2012. She is now directing her practice towards volume expression, where authentic, raw materials and manufactured, noble materials confront each other. She calls this field "Orfèvrerie Textile". Metallic embroidery and surface ennoblement (painting, pyrography, gilding, etc.) are then deployed principally for the luxury sector. Her first artistic works began during her studies, and after a few years of dormancy, she resumed her questioning and the realization of works thanks to the impetus of clients such as Galerie Chevalier Parsua and her first participation in the Cercle de l'Art in 2021.
